da dobrowin: As reported by The Daily Mail, Bournemouth are interested in retaining the services of Arsenal star Jack Wilshere when his loan expires this summer.
What’s the story?
da bwin: After a number of injury-hit seasons at Arsenal, Jack Wilshere is proving at Bournemouth he has the fitness required to play Premier League football week in, week out.
Now the club who gave him a platform to re-energise his career are desperate to keep him on.
Cherries boss Eddie Howe is a big fan of the England international and spoke this week about hoping to keep him at the club.
Asked about the potential of Wilshere signing permanently, Howe (quoted by The Mail) said:
We would love that to happen. I can’t rate Jack enough as a footballer, as a person, how he has come into the team and what he has delivered for us, but there has been no discussion with Arsenal. As I see it, Jack is on loan for the season and then we will look at it and Jack will look at it.
Whether a deal can be done remains to be seen, but what’s certain is that it’s a transfer that Howe and Bournemouth would be delighted to see happen.
The right fit?
There’s no doubting that Jack Wilshere has added a touch of class to the Cherries midfield this season. If they have ambitions of becoming a Premier League fixture then Wilshere is exactly the type of player they should be hoping to attract to the club.
Whether he’ll sign up is another matter. He has unfinished business at the Emirates and probably has enough about him to give making the first team there a shot.
If he’s happy and enjoying his football though, why not stay? There’s a lot to be said for getting regular first team football and helping a club of lesser stature become the side they want to be.
Making 19 appearances for Howe so far, it’s clear he’s seen as an important player at the Vitality Stadium and giving that up to sit on the Arsenal bench could be another backwards step in his career.
