da bet esporte: Arsenal travel to Switzerland on Tuesday evening hoping to claim top spot in group A. The North Londoners face the difficult task of overcoming FC Basel, while also hoping Paris Saint-Germain fail to beat Ludogrets at home.
da imperador bet: Nonetheless, before they can consider what is occurring in Paris, they must topple bottom club. The Swiss champions have a number of players within their ranks who are capable of causing considerable damage to the Gunners’ chances of finishing first.
The Swiss league may not be classified as one of Europe’s major competitions, but Arsenal must ensure they’ve done their homework to contain the attacking presence that Urs Fischer’s men can provide.
Arsenal may posses greater quality, but Basel have claimed plenty of scalps in Europe before and the Gunners must ensure they’re not the latest notch on the Swiss outfit’s bedpost.
We take a look at three Basel danger men who could cause havoc on Tuesday night.
Seydou Doumbia
Former CSKA Moscow striker Doumbia was once the notorious enemy of Manchester City in the Champions League. The Ivorian forward scored four goals in four games against City which further proves his ability to hurt some of Europe’s best teams.
Newcastle took Doumbia on loan last season but his time in England was not a joyous experience. This season, however, Doumbia has scored six goals in seven games in the Swiss league and is in red-hot form ahead of the visit of Arsenal.
Marc Janko
The widely travelled and vastly experienced Marc Janko looked like his career was coming to an end until he made the move to Switzerland in 2015.
The giant striker has recorded 21 goals in just 30 league games since returning to Europe from Australia. Arsenal need to be conscious of the Austrian striker’s ability in the air as 54% of his goals for Basel have come with his head.
Janko measures in at a whopping 6 foot 5, so Arsenal will need to have a plan in place to contain him at set pieces.
Taulant Xhaka
Yes, Taulant is the brother of Arsenal midfielder, Granit. The Swiss-born Albanian midfielder turned defender has become an integral member of Basel’s success in recent years.
Taulent can both attack and defend in equal measure and Nacho Monreal must ensure Xhaka is prevented from crossing the ball into Marc Janko.
The two brothers will be keen to overcome each other on Tuesday and Taulent, despite now being a regular right-back, is more dangerous in attacking positions than his sibling.
