da jogodeouro: It was an exciting weekend of English Premier League action and none more so than at Anfield where Liverpool and West Ham battled each other to a 2-2 draw.
da pinup bet: Getting off to a flyer through Adam Lallana, Liverpool were pegged back, first Dimitri Payet struck and then Michail Antonio capitalised on some weak defending to squeeze a shot past Loris Karius.
Liverpool gave it their all in the second half and got level through Origi but a staunch defensive performance from West Ham could not be defeated from that point on.
The point is worth more to Bilic than Klopp. Liverpool have fallen further behind at the top of the table whereas West Ham made sure they moved out of the relegation zone.
It’s never dull when Liverpool play is it?
Here are FIVE pictures that we feel summed up the action…
A fine finish for starters
Adam Lallana’s excellent goal just minutes into the encounter really set the stage for what would be an engrossing encounter through.
Mane found him Lallana but the attacking midfielder had a lot to do to turn and slide it past Darren Randolph in the West Ham goal.
At this point, everyone thought Liverpool were going to go on and destroy Bilic’s side.
Payet superb once again
Dimitri Payet got back to something like his old self on Sunday, his expert finish equalising for the Irons just when it looked like the game would slip away from them.
He received the adulation from away supporters at the end. They know he’s going to be their most important player if they do fall into a relegation battle at the bottom of the Premier League.
Classy Michail
A classy finish and a classy celebration from Michail Antonio who capitalised on confusion at the back for Liverpool to prod the ball past Karius.
It was a stunning first half turnaround. West Ham fans must have been wondering where THIS team had been going 2-1 up at Anfield. Antonio has become a fan favourite not just because of his ability but also his personality and this picture summed up both.
Bilic buoyed
There’s no doubt Bilic was under pressure going into this encounter but it’s also true that he has retained the backing of most West Ham supporters.
This was never truer tonight with the away fans chanting the manager’s name throughout the 90 minutes.
His team repaid that faith and it was Bilic’s defensive organisation that in the end secured a point to bring home to London.
Regrets, I’ve had a few…
Despite a creditable point, Darren Randolph will not have been a happy man on the trip back to London from Liverpool on Sunday night.
He knows it was only his error between West Ham and a vital 3 points. The Irish goalkeeper’s flapping at a cross meant that Origi could pounce on his error and bring Liverpool back into the fixture.
He looked distraught at the end of the game despite making amends with an incredible save midway through the second half.
