da dobrowin: Saturday’s evening kick-off really stole the show on a day of real quality in the Premier League. In a pulsating, exciting and dramatic match from start to finish, Leicester City finally showed up this season.
da leao: Blitzing the Citizens in a frantic opening 20 minutes, the Foxes were 3-0 up before anyone could really take a breath.
Vardy got two of them and completed his hat-trick in the second half before a late City double flattered the visitors. Too little, too late for Guardiola’s men.
The win meant that Ranieri’s side moved up to 14th in the table and gave them some breathing space from the relegation zone.
If they can play like this every week then no-one will consider them in danger of returning to the Championship come May.
For City? Well, it’s another day better left forgotten. They’ll have to get to the bottom of what’s going wrong before Arsenal come calling next Sunday.
Here are FIVE pictures that summed up the match…
Hat-trick hero
Jamie Vardy had the honour of taking home a match ball for the first time ever in his career. His hat-trick was the first he’s scored in football and couldn’t have come at a more perfect time.
Ending a drought of Premier League goals, Vardy reminded Leicester fans why they were so desperate to hold on to him in the summer past.
King power
Andy King’s goal put Leicester up 2-0 within five minutes of kick-off and really showed everyone that it was going to be one of THOSE performances from the Foxes.
He doesn’t score often, this was only his 5th Premier League goal since Leicester returned to the top flight, but it was one to remember for Foxes fans everywhere.
It was at this point that City fans sensed it was going to be a very bad night for their side.
Not so Bravo
Claudio Bravo’s performance at the King Power stadium bordered on comical for every football fan outside of the Man City support.
A truly woeful display, he was rounded twice by Vardy and should have done better for King’s too.
It’s left many scratching their head about why exactly Guardiola brought him to Manchester in the summer, at the expense of Joe Hart.
Is there a worse goalkeeper in the Premier League right now?
Stones aren’t solid?
John Stones only escapes the full glare usually placed on such a tragic performance because of the ‘exploits’ of Claudio Bravo but the young defender also had a nightmare.
His woeful pass back to his goalkeeper gifted Vardy the opportunity to score his third goal of the night and summed up his evening.
The massive money City spent to bring him to the Etihad is proving more perplexing by the week. Is this really what close to £50m buys you in 2016?
Thinking to do…
One can only imagine what was going through Guardiola’s mind when this photo was taken in the wake of Leicester City’s 4th goal.
Having played a game more than Chelsea, his side remain 4 points behind the Stamford Bridge side and have very difficult games in December including the visit of Arsenal and a trip to Liverpool.
This month could prove to be a difficult one for the Spaniard and he needs to find answers quick else risks City slipping out of the title picture completely.
