da betano casino: So England’s hopes of hosting the 2018 World Cup have been dashed leaving football fans in this country exasperated and journalists sharpening their pencils as they to discredit FIFA in any way possible in order to justify this apparent snub. Fleet Street are well known for two-faced, after all these were the same people who were filling column inches showing their disgust at Panorama for looking to expose football’s world governing body last Monday – oh how the worm turned.
da roleta: What amazes me about the fallout of this is that everyone is so surprised or shocked by the result. We in England have this belief that everyone plays with a straight bat, instead of waking up to the reality that we live in a crooked world in every aspect, whether it Sport or Politics. Money makes the world go round and unless you are prepared to put it in the decision maker’s hands then you run the risk of failing, no matter how well presented and polished you or your presentation maybe. We didn’t win the bid because we decided to play with a straight bat, pure and simple.
I have to admit that I have always had great suspicion of football authorities in general, including our own FA, and I for one would be happy to see an alternative. I mean do we really need them? An interesting comment arose in the aftermath of Thursday’s result where on a radio phone-in someone suggested that England should withdraw from International competition in protest. While the caller could be accused of being rash in the heat of the moment, it did get me thinking about whether International football does in fact need FIFA or UEFA for that matter.
Let’s be honest there are only eight or ten nations that are of any great significance and if maybe two or three of them were to withdraw and look to encourage other nations to join them in an elite World Tournament every two years. While that idea may seem rather outlandish in theory, in reality it will surely be hugely appealing for them individually; especially given the wealth it would generate these nations as hosts in the coming years. It is just a thought, but one that I reckon could go a long way in rooting out the underhand ways of the current regime, while not to mention bringing the major tournaments back to the nations who ultimately contribute the most to them.
