A 1-1 draw at home to Al-Taawoun on Friday night has left Al-Nassr sitting fourth in the Saudi Pro League, seven points away from second-placed Al-Hilal, with the top two gaining spots in the AFC Champions League elite.

The drop means Ronaldo will not play in Asia's elite competition – where he scored eight goals in 2024-25 – next term, and it may sway his decision on renewing his contract with the football icon set to become a free agent this summer.

Al-Nassr do still have the chance to qualify for the AFC Champions League two – equivalent to the Europa League – but Ronaldo and Co must finish third and rely on Al-Ittihad beating Al-Qadsiah in the King's Cup final later this month.
