da brdice: Although Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez have quite rightly taken most of the unexpected plaudits in the Premier League so far this season, Quique Sanchez Flores’ Watford outfit have nonetheless been plugging away nicely with a few of their own surprise stars on board.
da fazobetai: The likes of Troy Deeney, Nathan Ake and Ikechi Anya have all excelled for the Hornets so far this season, but with 14 impressive league goals already to his name in 2015/16, Odion Ighalo easily goes down as the most exciting pick of the bunch at Vicarage Road this term.
However, with Tottenham Hotspur reportedly looking for cover in the striking department in the upcoming January transfer window, the in-form Nigerian front-man could see his name linked with a move to White Hart Lane in the not too distant future.

So, should Mauricio Pochettino do everything within his power to land the emerging Watford star next month, or could Tottenham actually find themselves a better deal by looking past the exploits of Odion Ighalo this winter?
Although football fans outside the ever competitive realms of the Championship – and Vicarage Road specifically – may have never even heard the striker’s name before this season, Ighalo has certainly reversed that with his goal-scoring exploits so far this season.
Many initially expected the Hornets to struggle considerably in the Premier League simply because Watford had been absent from the English top-flight for so long. Thanks largely to the impressive form of both Ighalo and Deeney up-top this season, however, Quique Sanchez Flores’ side remain well placed in the top half of the table going into the New Year – and for that they deserve massive credit!
When it comes to effectively finding space for himself inside the final third, making countless off-ball runs that cause untold havoc with opposing defenders, and scoring enough goals to make everyone sit up and take note, Odion Ighalo really hasn’t disappointed much this season.
If Leicester’s Jamie Vardy hadn’t claimed all the prior goal-scoring acclaim earlier on in the season, the in-form Watford man could have easily been enjoying far more attention right now.
As Tottenham Hotspur would in-fact seem somewhat short of attacking intent if Harry Kane were to fall victim to injury between now and the end of term, maybe Pochettino should really be considering the services of Ighalo next month. Although Heung-Min Son does indeed look like he’ll soon blossom into a top acquisition for the White Hart Lane outfit, Spurs could genuinely do with a little more fire power up top.

Former transfer target, Saido Berahino, seems to have dropped off the boil considerably at the Hawthorns, and because the potential signing of Ighalo wouldn’t necessarily break the bank in north London this January, surely Tottenham could find themselves with worse options on their hands going into the rest of the campaign?
However, the Nigerian striker could easily turn out to be little more than a loveable ‘one-season wonder’. He obviously doesn’t represent the complete centre-forward by any stretch of the imagination, but as the 26-year-old front-man would seemingly suit the attacking style of football being played by Spurs at the moment, perhaps Tottenham would be improved with Ighalo on board.
In the end, it admittedly remains difficult to imagine Watford ever wanting to part ways with arguably their best player at this crucial stage in the season, even if Spurs do eventually make a move for the current Hornets star. Odion Ighalo is imperative to any meaningful chances of Watford maintaining their presence in the English Premier League for back-to-back seasons after all.
Yet as money and prestige simply do a lot of the talking in the Beautiful Game nowadays, maybe Spurs should take a gamble on the former Udinese man this January, in what could genuinely turn out to be one of the most successful domestic campaigns at White Hart Lane in recent memory.
