da gbg bet: Football pundit Paul Merson has suggested that Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone would consider taking over Everton.
da betcris: According to Sky Sports News, Toffees majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri has selected the Argentine as a candidate among a list of four.
The broadcaster claims that Sam Allardyce, Marco Silva and David Unsworth, who is currently in temporary charge of the team, are also options.
Simeone has been the main man at Atletico since 2011, and in the last six years, he has guided the club to five trophies, including the La Liga title.
Atleti have come closest to challenging Spain’s elite giants Real Madrid and Barcelona over the last few years.
At the moment, the club sit fourth in the domestic table and remain in the Champions League, but have an outside of chance of reaching the last 16.
While some have suggested that moving to Everton would be a step down for Simeone, Merson thinks that it could be the best way for the 47-year-old to enter the Premier League.
The former Arsenal man said on The Debate:
“This is where it has taken Simeone now. People are saying he might be a bit big for the club but he’s been around a long time, Atletico Madrid are not the team they were and they are falling behind a bit.
“He’ll look at the Premier League and think ‘right, I’m not going to be manager of Liverpool, Man City or Arsenal, maybe Chelsea’ and all of a sudden, Everton are the next best thing. Even with where they are, they are the next biggest club with money and big wages, then he’s in the Premier League.”
