Tottenham Hotspur winger Lucas Moura is wanted by Real Madrid, per the Daily Star.
The Brazil international has enjoyed a thrilling season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, scoring 15 goals in all competitions and becoming a hero thanks to his performances in the Champions League.
He scored the goal that ensured Spurs’ qualification to the knockout stages, earning Mauricio Pochettino’s men a 1-1 draw with Barcelona at the Camp Nou.
And he then, unforgettably, scored a hat-trick against Ajax in the second leg of the semi-final, helping the club claw back a 3-0 aggregate deficit to qualify for the final; they will play Liverpool in Madrid on June 1.
Real are now said to be “sniffing around” the former PSG forward.
Should Spurs hand him a new contract, then, in a bid to ward off the supposed interest?
Football FanCast writers have their say below!
Billy Meyers
“I think Spurs should certainly hand Lucas Moura a new contract. At just 26 years of age, he is still arguably yet to reach his peak, and his heroics in the Champions League will mean this move would go down well with the fans. It shouldn’t be forgotten that the Brazilian was one of the hottest prospects in Europe not too long ago, and Spurs should do everything they can to tie him down.”
James Beavis
“Yes, they should. Spurs are still yet to see the best from him but he has shown glimpses that he can be a world-class player in the near future. The fact the can feature anywhere across the frontline is a huge plus, while he has shown that he can fill the goalscoring mantle when Harry Kane is off form or absent. Getting Moura tied down would be the perfect start to Tottenham’s exciting summer.”
Matt Dawson
“Absolutely. I don’t think a player has ever deserved a contract as much as Lucas has right now. He’s almost single-handedly taken Spurs to the Champions League final and that’s a perfect indication of why they must give him a new deal. Lucas is someone they can build the team around in years to come and as a result, they must do everything they can to convince him to agree to new terms.”
