Although Leeds fans have been gutted about Phil Hay leaving his job as the chief football writer at the Yorkshire Evening Post, they are hoping that his departure can bring about a change in fortunes for the club.
As strange as it sounds, many fans have speculated that a curse has followed the club since Hay started at the local paper.
The Scot’s first joined the paper in 2004, the same year that the Whites were famously relegated from the Premier League. He has covered the team ever since, and they are still yet to return to the top-flight.
Certain supporters believe that now the journalist has left the local news outlet it may finally be time for United to return to the Premier League.
Regardless of the writer’s employment status, the Yorkshire outfit have a great chance of going up next season, and if they do a lot of fans will believe that it was Hay holding them back.
